Today we’re spotlighting Fran Ordoñez, Senior Data Engineer working on the Inpatient Capacity Solution.
What’s your role at Qventus?
As a data engineer, I make sure our Inpatient Capacity partners get their predictions on time and with minimal downtime. Most of my work is on the platform side, improving pipeline performance and adding monitoring so we’re the first to know if something goes wrong.
Where are you based?
Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Can you share some background on yourself?
I’m from Buenos Aires and am a Boca Juniors fan. I studied software engineering at the University of Buenos Aires and I spent several years in e-commerce and fintech before I started working at Qventus.
I live with my girlfriend, Ari, and we love traveling—at least once a year, we need to hit a beach in Brazil with a cold beer in hand, or our brains just melt. I prefer cats over dogs, and even though I’ve had my license since I was 18, I only recently started driving. We just got our first car and are looking forward to lots of road trips this year!
Which Qventus value resonates most with you and why?
I like focusing on simplicity and building things that are easy to maintain and understand – plus, I’m the reigning Clara Barton World Champion of Simplicity! Our field is already complex enough, and there’s no need to make it even more complicated.
What’s your favorite Qventus memory to date?
Getting to know everyone at QConnect! Also, I’m looking forward to more karaoke in 2026.
What’s the most rewarding part of your job?
Knowing that my work actually helps people get better, not just boosts sales conversion by 0.1%, keeps me motivated. When someone shares on Slack that care providers enjoy using our solutions, and that it helps them give better care to patients, it gives me an extra push to keep going.
What’s your secret talent?
I’m really good at coming up with the right meme at the right moment. A friend once told me I have an Elasticsearch of memes running in my brain.
What are your top 3 favorite books, podcasts, or movies?
My top three books, in no particular order, are: The Stars My Destination, The End of Eternity, and The First Law trilogy (I read them back to back, so I count them as one).
If you could have dinner with any historical or famous figure, who would it be and why?
San Martin! He crossed the Andes with his army and liberated half of South America from Spain. I’m sure he has some great anecdotes about Argentina’s independence wars.
