Health systems today are under immense pressure. Thinning margins, labor shortages, and rising costs are forcing leaders to make difficult decisions about where to invest. In this environment, trust isn’t given—it’s earned through results.

That is why I am so proud to announce that Allina Health has become the inaugural client of the Qventus AI Solution Factory, a co-development partnership model for building custom AI solutions.

Earning Confidence Through Results

Our journey with Allina Health didn’t start with a massive system-wide overhaul. It started with a specific, high-value problem: Surgical Growth.

Like many health systems, Allina Health wanted to drive strategic surgical volume in their centers of excellence—specifically for heart, cancer, neurology, and orthopedic service lines. They had the surgeons and the expertise, but they were saddled with manual, inefficient scheduling processes. Operating room (OR) block time often went unused because it wasn’t released quickly enough to be backfilled, and schedulers had to rely on phone calls to find open slots.

To solve this, they adopted the Qventus Surgical Growth Solution. The solution deploys a suite of AI teammates to optimize Allina Health’s ORs – optimizing utilization and maximizing high-value robotic assets.

  • TimeFinder gave schedulers a digital booking interface—similar to OpenTable—allowing them to find and book open time slots in seconds without having to log in to the EHR.
  • Available Time Outreach (ATO) used AI to automatically “market” open OR slots to the best-fit surgeons based on practice patterns and case mix, removing the burden of manual outreach.
  • Robotic Optimizer specifically targeted their high-value robotic assets, identifying non-robotic cases scheduled in robotic rooms and suggesting swaps to free up that capacity for surgeons who actually needed the robot.

The results were clear and immediate. Within just four months of going live, Allina was adding 3.5 cases per OR per month and growing their robotic volume by 36%.

The solution continues to drive results. In 2025 alone, Allina Health unlocked 689 hours of robotics capacity and drove a nearly 6x annualized ROI.

As Dominica Tallarico, Allina’s EVP and COO, put it: “That success gave us confidence to expand beyond a single care setting and establish Qventus as a strategic AI partner for intelligently automating care operations across our health system.”

Taking Qventus Enterprise-Wide

That confidence is what led Allina to deploy Qventus across two additional care settings:

  1. Perioperative Care Coordination (PCC) Solution. Pre-admission testing (PAT) is often a bottleneck, with nurses spending hours chasing down documentation and faxing charts. With PCC, we are giving PAT nurses their own AI assistants. The software automatically requests necessary medical records from physician offices and uses AI to read and interpret those charts—highlighting only the risks and missing information that require a nurse’s attention. This allows the team to focus on the patients who need them most, reducing day-of-surgery cancellations.
  2. Inpatient Capacity Solution. To address length of stay (LOS) and patient flow, Allina is implementing our Inpatient solution. This technology integrates with the EHR to predict potential barriers to discharge early in a patient’s stay. It “nudges” care teams to take action—such as ordering a physical therapy consult or arranging transport—before those issues become delays. By automating these small but critical steps, we help get patients home sooner and free up beds for those waiting in the ED.

Building the Future Together

After seeing the tangible impact of Qventus’ AI across additional care settings, Allina Health realized that to continue supporting their frontline teams they needed a partner to build with them for the long-term. Through the AI Solution Factory model, we are working side-by-side with Allina’s leadership and frontline staff to build custom AI Operational Assistants.

We are working with Allina Health’s teams to ask: What is the hardest part of your day? Where are the bottlenecks that no current software solves? Then, we build the solution together.

Allina Health is proving that AI can deliver sustained ROI when implemented thoughtfully. They are leaders who are willing to go deep, test new approaches, and scale what works. I look forward to seeing what we build together next.
